Naked thoughts for fresh starts

I read somewhere, a phrase that said “the nudity of our feelings is beautiful,” and because it has stuck to my mind, I decided to check how many people appreciate the concept and I started addressing myself to people with 100% sincere thoughts. My name is Ancuta… more precisely, my grandmother exasperated by the parents’ indecision said out of nowhere “name her Ancuta” and so it was. My childhood was tormented by all sorts of thoughts including my name… Ancuta, it sounded so small and insignificant… I dreamed that I will grow up and I will change it with one with more resonance. It took many years for me to see the true charm of this purely Romanian name, and to understand that the only thing that can give a name resonance is a good personality.

I had a quiet childhood at a farm in a small village. Lucky me. I grew up among the wheat and maize fields, with three dogs, a personal collection of ten kittens that I gathered from within forests, cemeteries and the garbage dump. I laid on the hay piles, out in the heat of the sun and I ate potatoes freshly taken out from the ground, that we used to cook in a fire that was lit in the middle of an empty field.

Generally, I was a good child, I discovered the charm of books before I even learned how to read. At four years old I was grabbing the books from the library and I was spending a lot of time analysing the pages and pretending that I could read. Because I had already done a daily ritual out of this and it was becoming strange, my dad decided to teach me how to read. When I started getting good at it, I started to read everything that I could put my hands on. Mum nearly fainted when she found me holding a certain book named Moll Flanders. I loved reading magazines as well. I think I still have the entire collection of ”Ioana” magazines. It was like some kind of Vogue magazine at the time. I used to love their fashion pages, there is from where I learnt how to put cucumbers on my eyes and my mother’s eyes to maintain the beauty of our skin and from there I’ve got my first culinary recipes inspiration. I grew up beautifully.

I have always been inclined towards art, books, writing and photography. As a child I used to keep diaries and I always expressed myself much better in writing, I read hundreds of books, I am an amateur painter. I left the country two years ago and settled in Ireland. I love food, coffee, good music, travelling and I would love to have a puppy.

Lately, I started taking steps towards a waste-free and minimalistic lifestyle. I think that besides improving the quality of my life, that would give me a certain sense of purpose. Making choices that are not only convenient for me but for nature and the environment, means taking action to change things for the best. I like to think that we are capable to change if we really want to. In our current society, we often fall into our own ego’s trap. We are so busy receiving that we forget to give back. Give time to those who love you, give love and understanding to all living things and give less trash to an already suffocating world.  I invite you to join me on this journey of becoming a better person and maybe to find the motivation to for you to work on that too…

Sincerely, A.
